Dusk has come without really striking. Something undulates beneath the still-shy stars. Suddenly, the choir gives its all, but the sky remains suspended in its immense serenity. Under the caress of the newborn moon, the obscured roses stretch out their hands still full of the day's colors. Oh, those still women's voices, guided by the breeze of the violins, sailing on the wave of the flute. The strings are half-hidden, but they play and play and play. The men's basses gently rock the skiff, which stretches in D minor the skein of its grelins, halyards and shrouds. The sheets pull the bassoon towards fascinating depths of black and fire. Night flees there, noon settles here. There is no more day, no more darkness, no more time, only an immense song of stems and flowers springing from a distant paradise, phoenixes with elusive feathers. T.M.

Their hosts loaded the fireplaces and tuhés, covered the tables with white sheets, hung hangings with appropriate allegories on the walls, opened the apartments to the women of the suite and attended to the slightest wishes of the Princesse d'Artois et de Bourgogne, the Lady who had come from so far away. Seven hundred years later, in almost the same place, the discerning traveler, deserving gentleman or accidental prince, receives the same welcome, in this cosy hotel where nothing escapes the attention of the masters of the premises and the table is set in a room imagined by an inspired architect and splendidly dressed. A room that extends its arms of light and shadow to the artist who encounters it in the course of an aesthetic exploration. T.M.
