Teorg Maelbergs : ARTS AND STORIES, graphic exercises

Introduction

My paintings are designed on computer, stored in electronic files and then drawn by printers in companies equipped with high quality reprography. However, I rarely reproduce a work. When I do, for various reasons, I limit them to a few copies at most.

I start from photographs of reality whose diversity, disorder or sometimes fractal perfection enchant me. Architectures, factories, machines, fabulous or improbable landscapes, characters and crowds, artists’ creations, machines, animals, nocturnal atmospheres, everything is a source of emotion and a pretext for «drawing». I start from photographs, most often my own. But you will find others, from friends, friends, accomplices of good times or experts in various fields.I gradually deconstruct the photographs to remove the objective materiality and leave only one atmosphere, the essence of the emotion of the moment.

The ideal is to achieve totally abstract results.

However, emotion combined with the need to produce an unexpected but aesthetic object combine without my consent to impose constraints that interrupt the process of destructuring at a given moment. at that moment I have to negotiate a few details to fix the graphic and chromatic balance of the result.

Imagine that the photograph(s) at the start are an ancient city in the desert, that I am detructing time and that you, you are the traveller or the archaeologist trying to decode the ruins in front of you. It is up to me to work in such a way that you will want to stop there.

Thank you for reading so far.
