Lyrical singing is easily accommodated in a sober setting because the work is sufficient to deliver its unequalled sound quality. But the great classical works are frequently presented in sumptuous and expensive settings. For better or for worse. There is no lack of visual paradoxes, with choirs invading the stage and musicians hidden in the shadows. Again, for better or for worse. I imagined here the variations of a very flowery backdrop in which one can perceive musicians lost in a wild vegetation, drunk with voices and timeless musical sounds.
